How to Become A Member

We have determined three simple and Biblical principles that explain church membership .  You may become a member of Central Baptist Church in one of the three following ways:

1.  Baptism

When a new believer is baptized in the biblical order: first believing and receiving Christ for salvation followed by scriptural baptism, he/she becomes a member of that local church.

If you have accepted Christ and have not been baptized in a Baptist Church of like faith, you will be asked to publicly identify with Christ and Central Baptist Church by being baptized into our membership.  This is also true if your mode of baptism was other than immersion, or if the doctrine was different in your previous church.  Central Baptist Church is committed to maintaining a doctrinal unity in this day of confusion and doctrinal compromise.  If you believe that God has led you to this church, and if you understand that baptism is simply a testimony of your faith, we invite you to identify with Christ and Central Baptist Church by being baptized as the Lord leads you.

Matt 3:16; John 3:23; Acts 8:38; Acts 19:1-5

2.  Transfer by Letter

A person can become a member by transferring his/her membership from a church of like faith.  He/she would give a statement of his/her salvation and baptism to the pastor.

3.  Statement

Occasionally a person provides testimony that he was saved and baptized at a church of like faith, but extenuating circumstances prevent Central Baptist Church from contacting the previous church.  In this case he/she would be presented to the church for membership by statement of faith.
